Can VacoHost Support My Market? How Remote Co-Hosting Scope Actually Works
What VacoHost handles remotely, what has to stay local, which platforms and property types are compatible, and who owns regulatory responsibility — so you can tell in ten minutes whether remote co-hosting fits your property.
The short answer: VacoHost is a remote team-and-tool co-hosting service, and it can support compatible short-term rental listings wherever your property is located. We do not have local offices, local field staff, or on-site crews anywhere — including in the destinations we publish guides about.
That is not a limitation we are hiding. It is the model. Everything that can be done well from a laptop, we do. Everything that requires hands on the property stays with people you hire locally, and we work alongside them.
What you'll learn
- Exactly which work is remote and which is local
- Which platforms and property types the service is compatible with
- Who is responsible for local regulations (you, with our research support)
- The five questions that decide fit
What VacoHost handles remotely
- Guest communication across the booking window: inquiry, pre-arrival, in-stay, and post-stay follow-up.
- Calendar and rate management, including PriceLabs configuration, seasonality, minimum-stay strategy, and gap management.
- Listing content and optimization: title, photo order, amenity completeness, house rules, and the structural fixes that affect conversion.
- Turnover coordination: scheduling and confirming your cleaner, flagging same-day turns, and chasing confirmations.
- Review management and response.
- Issue triage: deciding what is a message, what is a refund conversation, and what needs your local contact dispatched.
- Reporting on what actually changed month over month.
What stays local — always
- Cleaning and laundry. You hire and pay your cleaner directly. We schedule and coordinate them.
- Maintenance and repairs. Plumbers, HVAC, handypeople, pool and hot-tub service — all yours.
- Physical inspections and restocking.
- Anything requiring a person on site within a fixed response window, including any local-contact requirement an ordinance imposes.
If your property has no reliable local cleaner and no one who can reach it on short notice, remote co-hosting is the wrong structure for it right now. Full-service local management is a better fit, and we will say so.
Platform and channel compatibility
The service is built around Airbnb and Vrbo co-host access. If your bookings run through those platforms, or through a channel manager that syncs with them, we can work in your account without taking ownership of it.
What we do not do: take over your payouts, hold your money, sign guest contracts in our name, or lock your listing behind our account. You keep the listing, the revenue, and refund authority.
Direct-booking sites, boutique OTAs, and corporate-housing channels vary. Ask before assuming.
Who owns regulatory responsibility
You do. We are not a law firm, a compliance service, or a licensed property manager, and we do not register, permit, or certify properties on an owner's behalf.
What we do provide is research support: our STR Regulation Library points to official government sources by jurisdiction, and our regulation research checklist gives you a repeatable process for confirming current requirements with the authority that actually controls them.
Rules change. The jurisdiction is always the authority — not us, and not any summary you read online.
Time zones and coverage
Remote work across destinations is a scheduling problem, not a distance problem. Guest messaging is handled against your property's local time, not ours, and turnover coordination is anchored to your cleaner's day. The practical detail owners underestimate is check-in windows: a 4 p.m. check-in in a market three time zones away needs a cleaner confirmation deadline that reflects that. We set those explicitly during onboarding.
More on the mechanics: how remote co-hosting works across destinations.
Five questions that decide fit
- Do you have — or can you hire — a reliable local cleaner?
- Is there someone who can physically reach the property within a few hours if something breaks?
- Are your bookings on Airbnb and/or Vrbo, or a channel that syncs with them?
- Are you willing to keep the listing, payouts, and refund authority in your own name?
- Have you confirmed your property is permitted to operate as a short-term rental in its jurisdiction?
Five yeses means the model fits. A no on one or two usually means "fix that first," not "never."
Run the numbers before you decide
The management fee calculator compares a percentage-based management fee against a flat monthly co-hosting fee at your revenue level. It is the fastest way to see whether the structure is worth changing at all.
